Maths Week takes place each year in October.
It is a celebration of maths and a reminder of how interesting a subject it can be. Maths Week reminds us that maths is all around us.
We have brain teasers on the screens each morning and each class has until the next day to solve them. Here's an example; A pillar 9 metres tall casts a shadow 3 metres long on the ground. If the pillar was 24 metres tall, how many feet in length would the shadow be?
Many classes also do a Maths Trail, where the children have to go around the school or the yard answering mathematical questions about their environment. You can read more about it at www.mathsweek.ie
We all love maths!
