Seachtain na Gaeilge happens in March every year, usually around Lá Fhéile Pádraig – St. Patrick's Day
During Seachtain na Gaeilge, everybody in the school makes a special effort to speak lots of Irish.
Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge den scoth againn! Bhaineamar an-taitneamh as na himeachtaí éagsúla.
Seachtain na Gaeilge proved once more to be an eventful and action packed week in our school. All pupils were engaged in enjoyable activities and events to celebrate our Irish culture and heritage. The infant classes were treated to a céilí in the hall, whilst the senior classes participated in puc fada and cic fada competitions.
Rang a sé even aired their own radio programme as Gaeilge each day! Lá glas was the highlight of the week, when children were encouraged to dress in green and be as inventive as they liked with their costumes. Prizes were awarded to ‘An duine gléasta is fearr’ and ‘An gaeilgeoir is fearr’ in each class.
We also had a performance from the Maynooth Post Primary Trad Band. The children learned a lot about traditional instruments and got to meet some talented past pupils.
Is léir gur bhain na paistí an taitneamh as Seachtain na Gaeilge i mbliana. Bhí sé iontach ar fad an méid Gaeilge a bhí le cloisteáil ar fud na scoile. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí!
