Olympic Handball

Our senior Olympic Handball team was set up in 2014 and had great success at the inter-schools competition, competing strongly to win all matches played.

Olympic Handball trials for the current sixth class and fifth class boys resulted in the formation of three fantastic Olympic Handball teams.

They have participated in skill based training sessions every Tuesday to prepare for this year’s competition. The boys showed great interest in the sport and worked hard in training to develop their skills. This year Blake Vanduyvenvoorde, a past pupil of Maynooth BNS, volunteered to help with skill development and he has been a great asset to the team.

On Monday the 9th of November the sixth class Olympic handballers represented our school in the annual tournament held in Confey GAA. I am delighted to report that the boys retained the school’s champion title and displayed a wealth of talent on the court. You can find a copy of the match report in the November newsletter, written by Jack Murnane and Daniel O’Meara, the sixth class team captains.

Well done boys and best of luck to the fifth class team in their upcoming tournament!

Ms. Kelly
